Jonathan McDonell L.Ac., LMT, PTA, Herbalist
Experience
Prior to practicing acupuncture & Chinese medicine, Jonathan worked for five years as a Physical Therapist Assistant. His work experience includes working in hospitals, outpatient clinics and rehabilitation centers. Jonathan has practiced as a licensed massage therapist for five years, providing therapeutic massage treatments in a private clinic.
Jonathan has 750 hours of clinical training in various acupuncture clinics in the finger lakes region with over 400 patient contacts. Patient populations included addiction centers, public acupuncture clinics, and hospitals. Jonathan spent one month in the People’s Republic of China, receiving clinical training at Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Education
Jonathan received his Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from New York Chiropractic College’s School of Oriental Medicine in 2007. He graduated with high honors and received the schools Award for Clinical Excellence. This award is presented to the graduate who performed at a high level of excellence during clinical rotations in multiple areas of patient care and delivery of treatment including diagnosis, treatment skills, documentation and professionalism.
Jonathan received his Associates of Applied Science, Physical Therapist Assistant in 1997 from Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, New York. He also has a Diploma of Massage Therapy from the New York Institute of Massage, where he graduated in 2002.

Jonathan McDonell is a New York State licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist. Jonathan is registered in the State of New York as a Physical Therapist Assistant, has a master’s degree in Chinese herbal medicine, and has received clinical training in the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the People’s Republic of China.
Jonathan believes acupuncture and Chinese medicine are an excellent complement to modern western approaches to health and disease. With a diverse background of clinical experience in both eastern and western settings, patients of A.D.I.O. Acupuncture & Wellness Center are given the best possible solutions to a variety of health concerns.
