Acupuncture excels in its ability to treat chronic pain. Pain itself is not a diagnosis, but rather an indication that there is a problem somewhere in the body. The intensity of pain typically indicates how severe the problem is. Everybody has a different threshold for pain. Pain that increases and does not lessen over time should get immediate attention.

How does it work?

Acupuncture is extremely powerful and effective for treating pain. Acupuncture decreases pain levels and stimulates the body's ability to heal. Pain is caused by a disruption of circulation and lack of nourishment to the tissues. Pain can be triggered by compromised circulation of Qi, Fluids, Blood, or a combination of all three. It is the nature of acupuncture to influence the circulation of these vital substances. Depending on the severity, location, and cause of pain, we will suggest a treatment strategy tailored to your needs. Your acupuncturist will select acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, tui na, or herbs based on your individual pattern.

How many treatments will I need?

This will vary depending on the specific pain being treated. You will receive an individual treatment plan based on your age, history, lifestyle, goals and level of your pain. Generally pain that is of an acute nature (less than 3 months) is often resolved in a short series of treatments spaced close together. While pain of a chronic nature requires consistent regular treatments to achieve long lasting pain relief.
